We’re looking for a friendly and proactive individual to become a key part of our team as a Receptionist/Administrator within the Neurology Department at York Teaching Hospital.
As the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a warm and professional welcome to our service. You’ll provide essential administrative support to help our department run smoothly and efficiently.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Excellent communication skills with a kind, empathetic approach
2. A positive team player with a can-do attitude
3. Previous experience in a healthcare or reception setting would be desirable but is not essential
4. Confidence using computer systems and managing administrative tasks

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide a range of basic Clerical support, including:
5. Meeting with patients on reception, and helping with appointments and queries
6. Use the e-referral software to process new patient referrals in the required time frame
7. Monitor all the departmental email inboxes.
8. Receive general enquiries, which could be as the first point of contact including, patients, visitors, staff and others.

Qualification and knowledge
Essential criteria
16. Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. Maths and English at C or above – or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
17. Computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
18. Experience of dealing with confidential information
19. Previous Administrative experience in an NHS environment
20. Administrative experience (1 year minimum)
21. Experience working in a Receptionist capacity
