An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Psychological Practitioner/Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner to work within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS). Based in Chorley, the Traumatic Stress Service provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for individuals who experience a significant range of distressing symptoms following an event(s) which they have found to be traumatic. A key part of this role would be working with clients who are on the treatment waiting list and to help provide them with the psychological skills to help manage and alleviate their distress. These structured preparatory interventions are delivered either online or face-face. Responsibilities
* The post holder will be responsible for providing confident, experienced occupational therapy input into inpatient wards. This will include the following with MDT support:
* The post holder will be responsible for a range of group and/or individual assessment interventions drawn from relevant frames of reference, demonstrating sophisticated clinical reasoning skills. They will prioritise, plan and deliver assessment for people whose psychosocial needs and/or mental health problems are having a marked impact on their occupational functioning and who have complex occupational needs.
* The post holder will have responsibilities for mentoring and/or developing others and supervise more junior practitioners and support staff, delegating work to add to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
* The post holder represents a specialist clinical resource with whom other team members can consult on the complex and very idiosyncratic impact psychosocial issues and/or mental health problems can have on peoples’ occupational performance. They will provide advice to the team with regard to the relationship between mental health and occupation.
* The post holder will act as an empowered clinical leader to ensure the patient’s assessment determines the right care model and pathway for each patient.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
