Overview

As a Registered Nurse you will report directly to the Care Registered Manager and in her/his absence to the Care Manager. You will support the management team in the provision of high-quality clinical nursing care to residents that reflects best practice and meets the Health and Social Care Standards in line with regulatory requirements.

You will act to uphold the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of practice promoting and delivering excellent professional standards of care within Hollinwell House, monitoring and maintaining the health and well-being of residents by assisting and guiding care staff through effective supervision and support.

You will support and assist your staff team by actively participating and overseeing the provision of direct resident care. You will problem solve, provide sound and practical advice to the care team, promoting the organisation's values, policies, procedures and behaviours.

You will be able to work with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds with an approachable and solution-oriented style; keen to support and drive the development of a positive working culture within Hollinwell House and Hatzfeld Care.


Responsibilities

* Promote the highest standards of clinical nursing by maintaining good working relationships with all members of the Hollinwell team, supporting and promoting staff training and development, attending staff meetings, and encouraging input from the whole team on improvements to the service.
* Support the care teams in delivering person-centred nursing care to residents, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans on the electronic care planning system to meet residents\' needs and wishes.
* Assist and supervise staff, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Health and Social Care Standards, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Fire & Rescue Service, Environmental Health and Infection Control, and liaise with Care Inspectorate and other regulators as identified.
* Ensure safety and security of the care home building during duty, complete security checks at the start of shifts, and monitor throughout the shift.
* Adhere to Hatzfeld\'s Policies and Procedures at all times and maintain knowledge of fire safety procedures, fire alarm processes, evacuation plans (PEEPs), business continuity and evacuation plans.
* Maintain safe custody of all medications, administer medications in line with best practice and policies, monitor stock throughout the drug cycle, and follow the pharmacy ordering process in support of the Medication Co-ordinator.
* Ensure that any staff assisting with controlled drugs have the necessary knowledge, understanding and training.
* Respond to feedback, suggestions or complaints from residents, relatives or staff, and act as a role model for infection control aligned with organisational policies and national guidance.
* Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards and protocols in collaboration with the management team to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality care.
* Support staff induction, training and ongoing development, and undertake required training (e.g., Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Dementia care, Palliative/End of Life Care).
* Contribute to auditing processes to maintain robust quality assurance within the service.
* Delegate staff workload considering experience and skill mix and ensure efficient, cost-effective use of resources.
* Maintain active status on the NMC register, comply with the NMC Code of Conduct, and undertake additional training to support staff development.
* Undertake named nurse responsibilities and participate in business continuity responses to major incidents (e.g., fire, flood) where clinical expertise is essential.
* As part of the team, participate in care planning and assessment, supervise and assess student placements and the ongoing development of trainee senior carers and qualified senior carers.
* Ensure regular staff check-ins are carried out, maintain privacy and confidentiality, assess and manage risk related to team objectives, and contribute to policy development where required.
* Provide accurate management information related to the team\'s performance and ensure timely completion of required audits with action plans as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £20-£22 per hour. Hours to be discussed at interview.
