We are currently looking for a Plant Supervisor to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Taffs Well Concrete Plant, Cardiff. This site is accessible from Cardiff, Tredegar, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, Bridgend, Barry, Port Talbot, Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Coleford, Ross-on-Wye, and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Senior Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor will assist in managing a busy Ready Mix concrete plant and be accountable for the RMX operations. Safety and operational standards are fundamental, with a focus on cost control, customer delivery, and performance improvement. Ensuring compliance with business policies, procedures, and legislative requirements is also crucial.
As Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
* Managing all aspects of daily production, including operational costs and stock control
* Efficient manufacture of concrete, controlling standard deviation and cement contents, operating fixed and mobile plants
* Driving operational performance through KPIs, ensuring the plant runs at expected capacity
* Batching concrete to meet customer needs and internal quality standards
* Taking customer orders and arranging shipping
* Performing administrative and compliance duties using systems like Fortek and Excel
* Housekeeping and general maintenance tasks, assisting the fitting team
* Ensuring health and safety of colleagues, business partners, and everyone on site
There may also be occasional Saturday morning work, approximately twice a month, to assist with maintenance or production, depending on workload.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in plant operations, preferably within a Ready Mix or Aggregates environment. Supervisor experience is essential.
* Knowledge of operating and maintaining processing plant
* Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental policies
* Excellent communication and organizational skills to engage confidently at all levels
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, motivating others to meet production goals
* Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
* Flexible approach to multitasking and managing change
* Ability to identify and implement site and process improvements
* IT literate
