The Role
The School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences, part of our Faculty of Medical Sciences, is seeking to appoint a full time, permanent passionate and committed Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Nutrition on a permanent basis.
The School is a lively, friendly community with research, innovation and teaching strengths across sport and exercise science, nutrition and dietetics and biomedical sciences. The School has seen significant growth and development in recent years including over £57 million investment in new state-of-the-art teaching and laboratory facilities located within the Dame Margaret Barbour Building and the Sports Centre.
As a Lecturer in the School, you will be significantly involved in the development and delivery of a range of high-quality teaching and learning activities to support primarily the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science. There will also be opportunities to contribute to other UG and PG degree programmes within the School. As well as developing and delivering teaching activities, the role includes marking assessments, UG and/or PG project supervision, providing pastoral support and participating in the management and administration of the degree programme(s) as required. You will also be expected to make a significant contribution to research within the Faculty by aligning with one of the three Faculty Research Institutes (, and be able to demonstrate a developing independent research profile. Applicants will need a PhD in an appropriate discipline with some prior teaching experience.

Key Accountabilities
Teaching & Learning
1. To provide high quality teaching and learning and student support
2. Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor
3. Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with University standards and utilise on-line and digitised curricula and education frameworks
4. Contribute to curriculum development
5. Ensure all our students benefit from studying in a research intensive, research excellent academic environment
6. Provide education for life, that engages, challenges and supports our students to discover and fulfil their potential both while they are studying with us and once they have graduated
Research
7. Conduct research that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour in the subject area of Sport and Exercise Science
8. Contribute to the research profile of the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences by publishing high quality outputs
9. Pursue external funding
10. Demonstrate impact by developing research-based solutions to real-world problems and engage with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work
11. Supervise PGR (postgraduate research) students in a research-led university

12. Contribute to the Vision, Mission and Strategy of the School and University
13. Operate as an active citizen in the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences community

16. Undertake a range of administrative tasks to support your area of teaching, and/or research, and/or engagement for example, recruitment or research team leadership

Qualifications
31. A good Honours degree (or equivalent) in Sport and Exercise Science or a related subject
32. PhD (or equivalent) at or near completion (strictly within three months of submission at time of application) in a relevant subject area

33. A relevant Professional Body Membership as appropriate to the subject area
34. HE teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
