is looking for an experienced software engineer to join the Software Design Engineering Team and perform complex software design, and provide technical leadership in design, development, training, performance, and delivery of complex products and services.
Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is looking to hire a Senior Software Development Engineer for their Springfields, UK location.
Major Focus of Position:
Perform software engineering design and testing in support of the Westinghouse nuclear analysis, utility, and related code systems in a strongly regulated software environment. This includes software tasks through all phases of the lifecycle, including setting requirements, defining software and data designs, implementing the designs in code, developing test plans, executing test plans, and documenting each of these phases.
In this position, a successful candidate can expect to work as part of a team including but not limited to:
2. Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor other new developers
3. Develop, modify, and maintain software applications on Linux and Windows platforms
4. Perform software verification and validation
5. Document the work that was performed, in accordance with required engineering procedures
6. Lead or participate in code reviews and inspections of work performed by peers
7. Communicate effectively with software development team including status reporting (, quality, budget, schedule)
8. Supporting general Core Engineering Design code, procedure and methods development and updates
9. Leading training, development and qualification of other software engineers
10. Developing software project proposals including: technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
11. 4-Year Degree or equivalent in one or more of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field
12. 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines Software development Nuclear engineering/physics
13. Experience in software projects that follow software engineering standards (requirements, design, implementation, testing)
14. Working understanding of data modeling approaches
15. Working understanding of software test approaches
16. Understanding of end users’ expectations of software
17. Experience with modern programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran 95/2003, Java, Python, or C#/.NET
18. Experience with source code version control systems
19. Experience with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
20. Proficiency in English language, critical for reading and writing technical documents
21. Effective communications skills, written and oral
22. Ability to work effectively in an international team-oriented environment
23. Possess a mindset for finding, analyzing and efficiently solving variety of software related problems
24. Possess a mindset for working in a regulated business industry following defined processes and procedures
25. Aptitude to work with little guidance and oversight
26. Experience organizing and leading team of software engineers
