Job purpose:
* Reporting to the Commercial Manager, as the Design Development Engineer, you will be responsible for creating engineering solutions aligned with Eden's manufacturing and outsourced capabilities. These solutions should incorporate voice of the customer requirements and demonstrate an understanding of retail and consumer insights through brand representation.
* You will liaise closely with customers and account managers to understand the design brief, manufacturing, and sourcing requirements to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
* Working to tight deadlines, you must convert a design brief into an engaging and compelling design solution.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Support the sales team and other departments to meet and understand customers' design development needs.
* Produce innovative, engaging, and functional design solutions that exceed customer expectations.
* Manage the entire project/prototype process, including obtaining customer approval and creating prototypes.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure prototypes are created within timelines, specifications, and expectations.
* Use a design development tracker to manage workload, meet deadlines, and communicate progress.
* Document and share best practices in design development.
* National and international travel may be required occasionally and at short notice.
Required Competencies and Experience:
* Proven skills in INVENTOR or similar CAD software, with 3-5 years of experience.
* Experience with mixed material solutions including metal, timber, plastic, glass, and graphics.
* Track record of delivering high-quality, accurate CAD drawings that clearly communicate design intent.
* Strong planning, organizational, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
* Excellent presentation and articulation skills.
* Highly organized with strong time management skills to meet deadlines.
* Positive, driven, energetic team player with professional ambition.
* Self-starter, independent, and solution-oriented.
* Confident in articulating engineering design ideas.
Location:
We have sites in Wellingborough (Northamptonshire) and Aberdare (South Wales). Candidates should reside within a commutable distance from either location.
