The Role
As a Personal CareAssistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providingessential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but willfocus solely on supporting this client.
The hours of work will beeither 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am (waking night) and the care team arrange therota's between them to suit. You should be flexible across all days andbe willing to support the rest of the team when planning shifts.
About the Client & Your Responsibilities
This is a very rewardingvacancy for a male support worker in South Shields, providing support for ourclient who has sustained a spinal injury. Our client has no movement inhis legs and has weakened arms and requires 24/7 support. This role requires anexperienced care worker who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for ourclient through personalised care whilst promoting his independence.
The duties andresponsibilities for this role include personal care, including catheter andbowel care, to which you must have experience of. Moving and handling asrequired, assisting with administering medication, providing practicalassistance with tasks around the home which includes helping to plan and cookmeals, cleaning and laundry. You will also assist with physiotherapy, gymand rehabilitation techniques. You must be comfortable around dogs as ourclient has a lovely staffy who you will feed and walk.
Requirements
Training & Support
We provide comprehensive,paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:
* Full induction
* Safeguarding Adults
* Personal Care includingSuppositories, Catheter and Bowel Care
* Moving and Handling with Hoist
* Medication Administering
* Physiotherapy
* Spinal Injury Awareness
All training must be completedprior to start date and is paid at £18.00 per hour.
