Enfield Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Mental Health/AMHP Community Locality Team/Home Treatment Team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is based in the vibrant heart of Enfield Town, within our newly refurbished, open-plan office designed to support our smart working policy.
Location and Environment
The office is conveniently located amidst a bustling high street, shopping centre, and a variety of small businesses, bars, and restaurants. Excellent transport links to Central London and easy access via the M25, A10, and A406 make our location highly accessible.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide high-quality, person-centred social work services to individuals with mental health needs and their families, ensuring they receive timely interventions, support, and care. This dual-role position requires the practitioner to deliver standard social work services within a Community Locality Team while also fulfilling responsibilities as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) in line with the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended).
2. The role includes collaboration with the Home Treatment Team to provide intensive short-term interventions, crisis resolution, and risk management in the community, aiming to reduce hospital admissions and support recovery.

Minimum Requirements for the Social Worker
* A recognised Social Work Qualification.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and commitment to continual professional development.
* Registration with Social Work England.
* AMHP qualification and ability to maintain AMHP status.
* Demonstrable post-qualification experience in mental health services, preferably within community or crisis intervention settings.
* Experience in carrying out assessments and managing complex cases involving significant levels of risk.
* Experience in performing statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended).
* In-depth understanding of mental health legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983, Care Act 2014, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
* Strong assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage risk and balance competing priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals, families, and professionals.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working practices.
* Ability to work flexibly, including participation in out-of-hours AMHP rotas or emergency response as required.
