Group Accountant
Our listed client in the property industry is looking for a new Group Accountant to join their growing team, based near Reading. Reporting to the Financial Controller (or Head of Finance), the Group Accountant will be responsible for overseeing group-level accounting, consolidations, and statutory reporting. The role offers broad exposure across the property lifecycle and is ideal for someone seeking a technically strong, hands-on position within a dynamic property environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of consolidated monthly and year-end group accounts
* Managing group consolidations, intercompany balances, and reconciliations
* Supporting the production of statutory accounts in line with IFRS / UK GAAP
* Ownership of technical accounting areas, including acquisitions, disposals, and revaluations
* Liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and external consultants
* Reviewing balance sheets and ensuring strong financial controls across group entities
* Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting at group level
* Assisting with system and process improvements as the group grows
* Providing financial insight and support to senior stakeholders
About You:
Essential:
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
* Ideally have qualified in practice for a Big 4 or Top 10 accounting firm
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and statutory reporting experience
* Experience with group consolidations and multi-entity structures
* Solid Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
* Well-organised with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
* Experience within property, real estate, or asset-based businesses
* Familiarity with property-specific accounting (e.g. investment property, revaluations, deferred tax)
* Experience working within a growing or PE-backed environment
* Exposure to finance systems implementation or process improvement
