Clinical Support Worker - Admissions and Discharge (Day Surgery Unit)
Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) has an excellent reputation for delivering specialist surgical services across maxillofacial, hand surgery, ophthalmology, and reconstructive surgery. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Clinical Support Worker to join our friendly and dynamic Day Surgery Unit (DSU).
Day Surgery at QVH is a fast-paced environment where patient care, safety, and comfort are central. You will be supporting patients before and after their procedures, ensuring a smooth and positive journey through the unit.
This is a fantastic role for someone who thrives in a busy clinical setting and wants to develop their skills within theatres and peri-operative care.

Job responsibilities
* Provide highquality care and support to patients throughout their day surgery pathway, including admission, preoperative preparation, and discharge.
* Assist with patient observations such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation (training provided).
* Support patients with mobility, personal comfort, hydration, and reassurance before and after procedures.
* Assist registered nurses and operating department practitioners with essential clinical tasks.
* Help maintain a clean, safe, and wellorganised clinical environment in line with infection prevention and control standards.
* Prepare and restock equipment and supplies required for day surgery activity.
* Facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the unit by supporting transfers between admission areas, theatre, and discharge lounges.
* Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives, and wider multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
* Level 3 or Level 3 Diploma (NVQ) in health care support or able to demonstrate knowledge within this field through significant practical experience
* Care Certificate
* GCSE English and Maths grade 4 or above
Experience
* Experience of working in health or social care environment
* Experience of supporting and training CSWs
* Working in an acute hospital setting
