Overview
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead Containment Level 2 and 3 laboratories, Liquid Nitrogen facilities, and core laboratory services. This is a hands-on role with technical expertise, safety management, and team leadership to support research and teaching at the School. The post holder will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure biosafety and regulatory compliance, and act as a key contact for laboratory services across the School. They will manage a small team of technicians, coordinate maintenance and safety audits, and contribute to keeping our research infrastructure running to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day operations of Containment Level 2 and 3 laboratories, Liquid Nitrogen facilities, and core laboratory services.
* Ensure compliance with biosafety and regulatory standards.
* Act as a key contact for laboratory services across the School.
* Manage a small team of technicians; coordinate maintenance and safety audits.
* Contribute to maintaining research infrastructure to the highest standards.
Qualifications
* Successful track record in laboratory management (ideally including Containment Level 3 facilities) and staff management.
* Accurate with high attention to detail, even under pressure.
* Strong commitment to delivering excellent service and customer care.
* Skilled in prioritisation, organisation, and handling a high volume of work effectively.
* Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
* Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently and take initiative.
