The Role:
As Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for managing all commercial and financial aspects of multiple construction and refurbishment projects from start to finish. This includes everything from procurement and supply chain negotiation to cost control and reporting, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and with strong contractual governance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clear commercial guidance and negotiate effectively to maximise profit margins on individual projects
* Create and manage procurement schedules for subcontractors and suppliers, in collaboration with Contracts Managers
* Prepare detailed enquiries and issue tenders to subcontractors and suppliers
* Negotiate and place formal orders with the supply chain
* Manage subcontractor accounts and variations, ensuring accurate valuation and timely payments
* Maintain records of on-site changes and prepare costings for additional works
* Attend regular site and client meetings to discuss valuations, variations, and progress updates
* Administer contract terms effectively—including EOT claims, LADs, practical completion, and final account processes
* Produce detailed monthly commercial reports, including CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections
* Support the estimating team during the tender process where required
* Contribute flexibly across the business where commercial input is needed
What You’ll Bring:
* Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in commercial management of construction projects
* Strong understanding of JCT contracts and contract administration
* Experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects across varied sectors
* Proficiency in industry-standard software and commercial tools
* A proactive and solutions-focused mindset with strong negotiation skills
Qualifications:
* HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
* A qualification in contract administration would be advantageous
