Fencing+ - Summer - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Hours of work: 08:30 – 17:00
Salary: £405.69 – £530.76 per week, depending on age, experience, and qualifications
Note: Contracts for February Half Term will be issued at 2023 wage level; from 1st April 2024, the new wage level applies.
Reportable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office

FENCING+ DUTIES
* Set up and maintain activity areas to ensure they are suitable and inviting for children.
* Follow policies and procedures to ensure children enjoy a safe environment.
* Deliver fun-focused taster sessions according to Barracudas Fencing training.
* Use the Teambuilding manual to deliver a variety of age-appropriate, safe sessions.
* Provide safety instructions and equipment demonstrations, ensuring adherence.
* Supervise children actively, including during breaks and lunch, to meet their needs.
* Encourage maximum participation of children in activities.
* Work alongside other staff members assisting with sessions.
* Complete paperwork related to fencing sessions accurately on a daily and weekly basis.
* Regularly check fencing equipment for safety and functionality.
* Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding.
* Maintain a tidy site and ensure all equipment is packed away after use.
* Ensure the safe use of all equipment during sessions.
REQUIREMENTS
* Complete our free 1-day Fencing+ course, British Fencing affiliated, before employment starts.
* Be aged 18 or over by the start date.
* Be eligible to work in the UK.
* Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
* Be enthusiastic, caring, organized, with excellent communication skills, and able to use initiative.
* Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
* Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas (see staffroom for dates).
* Complete online training annually.
* Attend an Induction Training Day before the first working season, likely within 7 days before camp opens.
* Assist with pack-up at the end of camp.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Follow all Health and Safety regulations diligently.
* Organize and deliver activities appropriate to your qualifications and skills.
* Encourage children to try new activities and follow the activity timetable.
* Maintain safe behavior among children, know their whereabouts, and communicate daily about behavior codes.
* Follow camp systems, including registration, collection, and safety procedures, supporting colleagues accordingly.
* Promote a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene, and welfare as a positive role model.
* Report child protection concerns to your Senior Team or designated person at the Central Office.
* Make reasonable adjustments for children with additional needs or medical conditions.
* Support delivery of Skills Builder sessions if staff availability permits.
* Support swimming sessions if required; bring swimwear, and a spare T-shirt will be available.
* Perform other duties as necessary based on organizational needs.
