Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and oversee database policies and procedures Perform database operations, activity scheduling, logging, patching, maintenance, backups, and data warehousing Develop and deploy ETL solutions and reports to support applications, data integration, and operational needs Assist application and web development staff and users with applying database solutions to business problems Manage database performance optimization through monitoring, indexing, database structural improvements, and hardware/software upgrades Perform database and associated software life-cycle activities to ensure peak system performance Ensure data compliance with State Department requirements Recommend and implement current and emerging database tools, technologies, and best practices to continually improve customer experience Review proposed database changes to understand impact to supported applications and operations Lead database migration efforts Mentor fellow IT staff in database management Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) or more years’ experience in Oracle database administration Must possess an active SECRET security clearance at the time of hiring You must be a U.S. citizen and have Oracle experience to be considered for this role. Desired Qualifications: DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong written and verbal command of the English language Strong administrative and organizational skills Advanced computer skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrate a professional work ethic Ability to work independently and collaboratively Analytical skills and attention to detail required to successfully analyze, assess, provide recommendations, and deliver solutions Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job. Work Environment: You will primarily work in an office environment but may be required to work in other work environments as well.
