Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated occupational therapist interested in developing neurological skills to join the Community Neurological Condition Management Team (CNCMT). This is a fixed-term role supporting an existing team member on a yearlong career break.
The team is highly regarded locally and within the wider neurological community, providing specialist outpatient and community services primarily to Barnet residents. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical, service development, and supervisory skills within a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals with complex neurological conditions.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a specialist occupational therapy service to adults with neurological conditions in Barnet, based within the CNCMT at the Royal Free Neurological Rehabilitation Centre (NRC).
* Assess and treat a caseload of patients with acute, chronic, or complex neurological dysfunction, maintaining accurate records and statistics.
* Act as a case co-ordinator/keyworker, organizing reviews for patients with progressive neurological conditions.
* Perform manual handling tasks, fitting and delivering ADL equipment, and assessing complex seating and postural aids.
* Supervise junior team members, including students and rehab assistants, and participate in teaching programs for OTs and MDT.
* Contribute to operational issues, departmental audits, and service development projects with support from a Band 7 OT.

Additional Duties
* Carry out complex OT assessments related to functional ability, cognition, and psychosocial issues.
* Provide advanced recommendations for OT management tailored to individual needs.
* Monitor, review, and modify treatment plans to ensure effective outcomes, including discharge planning and referrals.
* Prioritize caseloads and develop individualized interventions within resource constraints.
* Promote occupational therapy roles at meetings and liaise with other health professionals, private, and voluntary organizations.
* Manage, transport, and fit specialized equipment in community settings as required.
* Discuss complex patient management with the multidisciplinary team.
* Manage a varied patient caseload and ensure adherence to relevant guidelines and legislation.
* Plan and allocate work to therapy assistants.
