Overview
Join our Street Wardens Team and make a difference in the community! We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is passionate about serving the public. This is a career graded role based in Buckinghamshire, with the opportunity to progress through grades upon completing relevant competencies. The role covers High Wycombe, with occasional work in other locations across Buckinghamshire.
About The Role
As a Street Warden, you will work in the community on a daily basis, acting as an ambassador for the Council. You will use your presence and communication skills to help the public and resolve issues within the town centre. You will work in partnership with colleagues from the Local Authority, Police, local communities and other partners to deter crime and tackle anti-social behaviour by using appropriate enforcement tools and powers. The majority of each shift will be spent on high-visibility, uniformed patrols, with regular engagement with local communities, partner agencies and business communities to make the area safer. You may be paired with a colleague or partner agency, or work as a single crew. Flexibility and proactive engagement are essential, as is the ability to work outdoors and communicate effectively with a range of people.
The role involves a balanced approach of providing support and signposting to members of the community and using enforcement measures where appropriate, including the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices for breaches of Public Space Protection Orders. You will be based primarily in Aylesbury but may be required to work in other locations across the county.
Fixed
As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, typically in the same office or location from which your service is delivered. You will be based in the same location as the rest of your team, but may visit other areas as required.
About You
* You will have strong customer service and people skills, with confident in-person communication and the ability to think on your feet.
* You should be able to remain calm under pressure, handle confrontation and difficult situations, and maintain accurate records for relevant authorities or stakeholders.
* You will be required to carry out enforcement duties on anti-social behaviour, including enforcing Public Spaces Protection Orders and addressing issues such as begging and drug/alcohol use in the town centre.
* Flexibility is essential, with some evening and weekend shifts expected.
Requirements and Vetting
* The post holder will need to successfully pass National Police Vetting (undertaken by Thames Valley Police) during probation.
* This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; applicants must declare all unspent cautions and/or unspent convictions.
Benefits and Information
