Reporting into the Traffic Maintenance Supervisor, the Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer will join a talented team of Traffic Signals specialists in Newcastle and the surrounding areas. Due to growth and demand from our customer(s), we are in a position to grow our Traffic team in this region.
What you’ll do
As a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, and test a range of Traffic Signals, Traffic Lights and associated electrical equipment in Newcastle and surrounding areas.
Training isn’t in a classroom; it is a healthy mix of ‘on the job’ learning, providing you with an opportunity to work toward an NVQ in Electrical Installations and sector‑based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8.
Who you are
You will naturally have an interest in troubleshooting, fixing, testing and maintaining electrical equipment, and already have some exposure to anything electrical – whether that’s working with outdoor lighting, CCTV, controllers, detection boxes, telecommunications or radio equipment, or you’ve had some experience via a college‑related course or diploma.
Key Requirements
* Motivation and willingness to learn on the job and via online learning
