Advanced practitioner - birth to settled adulthood

Dorchester
Dorset Council
Advanced practitioner
Posted: 1 August
Offer description

As an Advanced Practitioner working in the Birth to Settled Adulthood team, you will benefit from a strong supportive team culture centred around shared learning and reflective practice. You will have the opportunity to work with Social Workers and Family Support Workers in a new service aimed at improving support for children and young people with complex needs or who are disabled as they transition into adulthood.

We work with children and young people from birth to 25 years to ensure smooth progression at key developmental stages, so that by age 25, every eligible young person experiences a seamless transition into adult services.

You will join a friendly, dedicated team of social workers, family workers, students, and apprentices who value getting things right for children and use a strengths-based restorative approach. Their passion and commitment are reflected in consistently good performance data. Supervision prioritizes colleague wellbeing while focusing on positive outcomes for children and families.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be part of an experienced management team, driving development across our Birth to Settled Adulthood service, working with both children and adult practitioners. You will lead on the team’s professional development, including learning circles, reflective practice sessions, and group supervision, while managing a small complex caseload.

You will support our Social Work Apprentices and students’ learning and professional growth, serving as a key link between the principal social worker and the wider team to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

About You

The role is based in the Dorchester Local Office and is county-wide. Flexible working arrangements can be considered based on service needs.
