Do you have strong site management experience in a large-scale distribution operation? Are you a confident leader with a keen eye for detail and eagerness for continuous improvement? Are you commercially focused with the ability to drive change and operational improvements?

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a General Manager to join our team in Sherburn in Elmet, supporting our customer Sainsbury's. As a General Manager, you will provide inspirational leadership and management for the fast‑paced site in Sherburn in Elmet while continuing to develop added value to customer propositions in order to strengthen organisational dependencies and partnerships.

This is a full time, permanent position and even though contracted Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 17:00, this is a 24/7 operation, and you'll need to offer a level of flexibility in terms of working hours – no two weeks are the same, this is logistics after all!


Pay, benefits and more:

We're looking to offer a salary of up to £100,000.00 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you'll do on a typical day:

* Manage the site's leadership teams, achieving operational delivery performance and adherence to all company and customer/site KPI's
* Liaise and build rapport with the customer to allow for collaborative working and the defining of shared goals and objectives
* Lead the change management on site, with a focus on CI, health and safety
* Maintain effective and open communication links positively encouraging teamwork


What you need to succeed at GXO

* Significant experience in a fast‑moving logistics environment; previous grocery experience would be preferred
* Strong financial acumen - you'll be accountable for a multi‑million‑pound budget
* Ability to coach and develop senior managers along with experience of managing trade union relationships
* Experience in a customer‑facing role, with exposure to project management, driving change and implementing a CI culture
