Associate Director (Planning) – East Midlands
Blue Diamond Recruitment is proud to be working on a rare and unique opportunity for a Associate Planning Director to join a growing and reputable consultancy in the East Midlands.
This role offers a genuine pathway to Director level, providing the opportunity to grow the planning function with business development across the Midlands.
This is a senior position within a well established and expanding planning team, with a strong focus on residential projects and strategic land promotion. RTPI accreditation is mandatory.
You will play a key role in delivering major projects, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the business. Working closely with senior leadership, you will also be instrumental in driving team performance and mentoring junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic land promotions through the local plan process, including participation in examinations
- Prepare and oversee the submission of complex planning applications
- Lead planning appeals, including hearings and public inquiries, acting as an expert witness where required
- Manage large scale projects
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across housebuilders, land promoters and developers
- Support business development activities and contribute to securing new instructions
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level team members
- Support the ongoing growth and development of the region
About You
- Proven experience in a senior planning role within consultancy or development
- Strong background in residential planning
- Experience of local plan promotion, planning applications and appeals
- Confident operating at inquiry level, ideally with expert witness experience
- Track record of managing complex projects and leading professional teams
- Strong leadership, mentoring and people development skills
- Commercially aware with the ability to support business growth

Offering a competitive salary £65,000 - £75,000 basic salary, car allowance, bonus, market leading annual leave allowance, private health care, enhanced maternity / paternity leave and more.
