The Role: Sports Graduate
As a Sports Graduate, you’ll wear two hats: a Learning Support Assistant and a PE leader. In the classroom, you’ll support students in their academic and personal development. On the field or in the gym, you’ll inspire a love for physical activity, promoting health, teamwork, and resilience. This role offers invaluable experience in a special education setting and is ideal for graduates looking to launch a career in education, youth work, or sports coaching.
Key Responsibilities
* Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons, adapting materials to meet students’ needs, and ensuring every child is engaged and supported.
* PE Leadership: Plan and lead engaging, ability-appropriate PE sessions that inspire participation and foster a lifelong love of sports.
* One-on-One Support: Provide tailored assistance to individual students or small groups, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
* Student Well-being: Motivate and encourage students to build confidence, develop social skills, and cultivate self-esteem through physical and social activities.
* Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a nurturing, inclusive environment.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and document student achievements, providing constructive feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals.
* Safety and Supervision: Ensure students’ safety and well‑being during activities, promoting positive behaviors and fostering a secure environment.
* Team Engagement: Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development to continually enhance your skills.
What We’re Looking For
* A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
* Passion for supporting children and young adults with special needs, and a desire to make a lasting impact.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and inspire trust.
* Enthusiasm, patience, and a positive, adaptable attitude.
* The ability to motivate and engage students, both in the classroom and during physical activities.
* Experience working with young people or special needs students (preferred but not essential).
* A collaborative spirit and commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment.
