Role: Staff Platform and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: up to £85,000 + Benefits
Location: Glasgow – 1 day per week onsite
A mission-driven energy company is continuing to invest heavily in its cloud platform and infrastructure as it scales its engineering organisation.
They are now looking for a Staff Platform and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their platform team and play a key role in building and evolving the cloud environment that supports multiple engineering teams.
This role sits alongside a Principal Engineer but is slightly more hands-on. You will be helping to design, build, and improve the platform while contributing to its architecture and technical direction.
The environment is heavily focused on Google Cloud and modern platform engineering practices, with strong emphasis on automation, CI/CD and developer experience.
Key responsibilities
* Design, build and evolve the company’s cloud platform running on Google Cloud
* Improve CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows across engineering teams
* Work closely with the Principal Engineer on platform architecture and standards
* Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform and infrastructure as code
* Improve platform reliability, scalability and observability
* Support engineering teams adopting platform tooling and best practices
* Contribute to the long-term cloud and platform strategy
What they are looking for
* Strong experience working with Google Cloud Platform
* Experience running workloads on Kubernetes or GKE
* Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Experience using Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools
* Background in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps or cloud infrastructure roles
* Comfort operating as a senior hands-on engineer within a platform team
Nice to have
* GCP certifications, such as Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer
* Experience building internal developer platforms
* Experience in improving developer experience and deployment automation
