SEN Teaching Assistant – Winchester
Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring, patient, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Winchester area. This role involves working closely with students who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication challenges, and social or emotional needs.
You will provide consistent, tailored support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop essential emotional and social skills. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children who benefit from extra guidance and structure.
The role suits candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, support roles, youth work, or graduates looking to gain hands‑on experience in education or psychology.
The Role:
1. Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
2. Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
3. Assist with emotional regulation, confidence‑building, and behaviour support
4. Help adapt learning tasks under teacher guidance
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
6. Encourage independence, engagement, and positive social interaction
7. Contribute to a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
8. Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
9. Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs
10. Strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
12. Adaptable, reliable, and proactive
13. Passionate about making a difference in pupils’ lives
14. Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
15. Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
16. Location: Winchester
17. Start Date: ASAP
18. Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
19. Pay Rate: £ – £ per hour
20. Contract: Long‑term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
21. SEN or child‑support experience desirable
22. Safeguarding training can be provided
23. Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial
Eligibility:
24. Right to work in the UK
25. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
