The company
At Abselion we're on a mission to revolutionize protein research. Our vision is to empower scientists to focus on discovery and innovation, not tedious manual tasks. We have created Amperia, a compact, affordable benchtop solution designed to simplify protein research for everyone. Amperia helps researchers to develop the medicine of the future, find the best ways to produce novel biomolecules, and ensure that medicine is always safe and efficacious.
We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary team working at the intersection of biotechnology and engineering. We value a flat hierarchy, where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and follow their passion. We are supported by some of the leading investors and companies in the biopharmaceutical industry.
The role
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Graduate Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a hands‑on, varied role involving design, troubleshooting, process improvement, and technology integration. Youll collaborate with engineers, scientists, and production staff to keep our products running smoothly and play a key role in the design and launch of new systems.
As part of the engineering team, youll work across the full product lifecycle from concept to production. One day you might be designing precision components to be machined in aluminium, assembling sheet metal enclosures, or liaising with PCB assembly suppliers to ensure designs meet both functional and manufacturing requirements. Another day, you could be assembling and wiring prototypes, 3D printing test parts, or using hand tools to adapt and iterate on proof‑of‑principle builds. Youll also develop Python‑based code to automate scientific workflows through equipment integration and gain exposure to product certification and CE marking as we progress through the development life cycle. Alongside product development, youll contribute to production process improvements, design custom jigs and fixtures, refine technical documentation, and support the transition from prototype to production‑ready designs.
As a small company, youll regularly wear many hats beyond core engineering tasks whether thats supporting marketing with technical content for our website and demos, assisting with lab or office moves, joining field service visits, or tackling the unexpected challenges that come with a fast‑moving startup. Were looking for someone who thrives on variety, learns by doing, and brings a helpful, can‑do attitude to every task.
