At Turning Point, we are dedicated to supporting people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the daily living skills of those we support. Where will I be working?
You will be based in one of our Supported Living facilities in Carlisle, where we foster positive family relationships and a supportive environment. Our focus is on person-centered care, helping individuals with activities like shopping, budgeting, and cooking, all tailored to promote independence.
We utilize a digital social care record system to streamline daily tasks, allowing you to spend more quality time with the people we support.
Shift Patterns
This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is essential. You will work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
Role Responsibility
What will I be doing?
This hands-on role offers variety every day! Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, communication difficulties, and challenging behavior.
* Implementing a person-centered approach to care.
* Assisting with personal care needs.
* Facilitating daily activities at home and in the community.
* Encouraging independence and control over their lives.
* Investing time to understand how to deliver effective support and enhance quality of life.
* Providing outcome-focused support to develop skills and interests.
* Maintaining accurate records to ensure effective support and action planning.
The Ideal Candidate
What skills and qualities do I need?
We’re looking for someone with the right attitude and transferable experience in helping people manage anxiety. While knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs is beneficial, what’s essential is that you are:
* Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic.
* Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental.
* A great team player with lots of energy.
* Skilled in effective communication.
* Able to handle the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling when necessary.
Drivers are desirable but not essential.
