EYFS Teaching Assistant - SEND Focus

Hours: Full-time- Monday to Friday
Pay: £100 per day
A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Urmston is seeking a committed and compassionate EYFS Teaching Assistant with a SEND focus to join their Early Years team. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young children with additional needs in their earliest stages of learning and development.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support children in Nursery and Reception, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or emerging needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEND, following EHCP targets and individual support plans
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt activities and resources to meet children's individual needs
- Use a range of inclusive strategies to support communication, interaction, behaviour and learning
- Support the delivery of a stimulating and nurturing Early Years environment in line with the EYFS framework
- Foster strong relationships with children, promoting emotional security and positive attachments
- Assist with observation, assessment, and record-keeping to track progress against developmental milestones
- Support with personal care, sensory needs, and transition routines where appropriate
- Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistency and best practice
Requirements:
- Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification
- Experience supporting children in an EYFS setting - essential
- Previous experience working with children with SEND (autism, speech and language delay, global developmental delay)
- Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development
- Understanding of inclusive practice and behaviour support strategies
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable:
- Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or sensory play approaches
- Experience supporting children with EHCPs or complex needs
- Paediatric First Aid certification
- Team Teach or equivalent behaviour training
