Barnsley Academy is an 11‑16 secondary school seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Behavior Support Officer to join an established team. We aim to bring out ‘the Best in Everyone’ and continually strive to enable students and staff to develop their full potential.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has excellent people skills and is both authoritative and approachable
* Is a team player
* Has sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
* Can be resilient in following the academy’s behavior policy
* Believes in the power of education to enable students to achieve anything they set their minds to
Main duties will include:
* Working under the direction of the Behavior Manager to provide on‑call support to students needing extra assistance to realize their potential, including addressing day‑to‑day behavior issues
* Supporting students who need extra help to overcome barriers to learning
* Participating in student intervention workshops to help remove barriers to engagement
* Supporting teaching staff to minimize disruption to lessons
* Responding to individual student welfare and behavioral issues
* Building positive relationships with students
* Working closely with the Safeguarding Team and relevant staff to ensure that the needs of students with additional learning needs are met so they can develop positive behaviors for learning
