Overview
The Purchasing Manager is an integral part of not only the production process, but also the overall success of the business. They oversee a team of 2 and are responsible for sourcing raw materials, CNC machined components, and soft goods for three group companies, at the most competitive price and lead-time. The role manages the worldwide supply chain and involves estimating, making it suitable for someone with prior machining experience who has progressed from a shop floor environment into the office. The role supports cost saving and profitability through strong negotiation, networking, Excel skills, and knowledge of sustainability, risk management, and ethical issues. Full product training will be provided as part of the development for the role.
MUST HAVE a good understanding of CNC (Milling & Turning) and MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO BRIGHOUSE, HD6.
Responsibilities
* Oversee a team of 2 and manage sourcing of raw materials, CNC machined components, and soft goods for three group companies.
* Manage the worldwide supply chain and contribute to estimating processes.
* Identify cost savings opportunities to improve profitability and lead-time.
* Utilize strong negotiating, networking, and Microsoft Excel skills; apply knowledge of sustainability, risk management, and ethical issues.
* Support the transition from shop floor to office environment with ongoing training and development.
Qualifications
* Proven track record of MRP management, cost cutting, and procurement control.
* Good understanding of CNC (Milling & Turning).
* High competence level of Microsoft Excel.
* Methodical and process-driven with a modern mindset.
* A “can do” attitude and approachable demeanor.
* Willingness to assist in problem solving.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Must be able to commute to Brighouse, HD6.
Desirable Skills
* Degree / CIPS qualification or 5+ years in a similar role within the oil & gas industry.
* 3 years of management experience.
* Valve knowledge.
* Raw material knowledge (Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Duplex, Nickel Alloys, etc).
Working Hours
38.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8.00am – 4.45pm (lunch 12.30 to 13.00 or as required).
