Applications are invited to join the Psychology Service at ALL EAST Sexual Health Services at Barts Health NHS Trust in East London.
We would like to recruit an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist who will take a leadership role in developing and delivering our High-risk Sexual Behaviours Pathway (E1 Clinic). This is a psychology-led service which offers rapid assessment and interventions to people who feel out of control of their sexual behaviour, which is increasing their risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections and/or blood borne viruses. This includes substance use in a sexualised context (i.e., chemsex).
The post-holder will be expected to have a case load for individual psychosexual assessments and interventions in addition to leading a psycho-educational group for reducing high risk sexual behaviour. The post holder will also assist in developing these services across Waltham Forest and Newham sites, in addition to Tower Hamlets.
The Psychology Service enjoys good close working relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams in Infection & Immunity. We are an energetic and supportive team offering excellent professional support, supervision and CPD. There is a wealth of specialist clinical expertise, and the service has an active audit, research and teaching programme. There are also close links with North London Clinical Psychology training courses and Queen Mary Medical School.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will take a leadership role in developing and delivering a new High-risk Sexual Behaviours Pathway (E1 Clinic), which is embedded in both the ALL EAST Integrated Sexual Health Service and the Infection & Immunity Service (HIV service) at Barts Health NHS Trust.
The E1 Clinic is a psychology-led service which offers rapid assessment and interventions to people who feel out of control of their sexual behaviour, which is increasing the risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections and/or blood borne viruses. This includes substance use in a sexualised context (i.e., chemsex). The service offers short-term individual psychotherapeutic interventions and a group programme (Rebalance).
In addition to developing, delivering, and evaluating the Rebalance group programme, the post-holder will also hold a case load for individual psychosexual interventions. The post holder will also assist in developing services across Waltham Forest and Newham sites, in addition to Tower Hamlets.
The post holder will also contribute to audit, research and service development. The post holder will further the practice of clinical psychology and psychosexual counselling, by assisting in service development, audit/evaluation and clinical governance.
The post holder will also contribute to our multi-disciplinary staff teaching programme to promote psychosocial knowledge and skills in responding to the psychosocial needs of our service users. The post holder will also provide supervision to clinical psychology doctorate trainees and/or psychosexual counselling trainees.
The post holder will also contribute to audit, research and service development. The post holder will further the practice of psychology, by assisting in service development, audit/evaluation and clinical governance.
The post holder will be expected to work onsite for administrative duties, supporting staff and clinical provision. However, remote working from home may also be required.

Essential criteria
1. Experience in working within NHS Clinical Health Psychology Services
2. Experience in working with sexual health difficulties.
3. Experience in working with compulsive sexual behaviour and/or high sexual risk taking
4. Experience of applying clinical psychology in culturally diverse contexts.
Desirable criteria
5. Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating psycho-educational workshops
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
6. Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of working with sexual risk taking and/or substance misuse.
7. Skills in engaging with people who experience a range of psychosexual problems, especially compulsive sexual behaviours.
8. Highly developed understanding of the cultural aspects of sexualised drug use amongst men who have sex with men
9. Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
Desirable criteria
10. Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in patients with physical health problems, including those with HIV and sexual health difficulties.

11. Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent, if trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
