Acute Medicine Position
We are looking for your next step within Acute Medicine. These Acute Medicine positions support the expansion and development of our Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) and Acute Medical Units (AMU – McGill) at Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH). The successful candidate will work in the Acute Medical Unit, providing a wide breadth of acute medicine experience in this consultant‑led area.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen clinical acumen, diagnostic and practical skills in acute medicine with real‑time consultant feedback and supervision. Candidates will also develop teaching experience by helping to run AMU teaching, simulate training, mock PACES, regular PACES exams, medical student programmed teaching, including virtual on‑call training.
Key Responsibilities
* Clerk and post‑take administration; writing in patient notes
* Undertake patient reviews
* Promptly update patient systems
* Attend acute medicine clinics
* Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
* Facilitate daily board rounds with MDT
* Triage to medical teams / acute physicians as appropriate
* Participate in ward rounds
* Liaise with patient families to discuss progress, goals and outcomes
* Respect patient rights to decisions about their treatment, care and discharge destination
