The responsibilities of a Support Worker:
* Follow the Service Users Care and Support Plan & Positive Behaviour Support Plan
* Supporting the individual with daily living tasks, prompting personal care and cooking.
* Promoting independence and helping Service Users develop life skills
* Providing emotional support and building positive relationships
* Assisting with medication management (where required and trained)
* Supporting individuals to access the community, attend appointments, or participate in social activities
* Encouraging and enabling Service Users to achieve personal goals
* Maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns to the care team
* Ensuring a safe, respectful, and person-centred environment at all times
Key Requirements
* Candidates must have flexibility with shifts and be able to work every other weekend.
* Candidates must be comfortable with challenging behaviour, not easily offended and clear English communication skills.
* Minimum 6 months of professional care experience
* Right to work in the UK
* Willing to attend a 2 day Safety Intervention course
* Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one
* Up-to-date CV with full work history
About the Role Sugarman Health and Wellbeing are looking for a Male Support Worker within the Leeds area who can support alongside a male service user, who has Autism, Learning Disabilities, PTSD and Challenging Behaviours. Our Support Worker roles are considered more of a companionship role by building up key relationships and promoting independence through daily tasks for our service user within his own home, and especially within the community. Support Workers must have experience or willing to learn and communicate through British Sign language.Our Service User is supported on a 2:1 basis, with activities that will be based around what he enjoys doing, but most importantly, suggesting new ideas and opportunities that serve the service user's best interests, by going above and beyond. At times, he will display behaviours that challenge and require staff to support him to self-regulate. You will need to communicate with him effectively and appropriately. You will also be given the opportunity to build a positive relationship with the Service User and their family.
