The Post This post is central to supporting the development, rollout and ongoing delivery of teaching materials, including fully online courses and those delivered on a blended or hybrid basis. The postholder will work closely with academics to support them to design and create digital materials, with a focus on skills development across the academic community. The postholder will provide technical support across the full range of digital learning tools and services, including, for example, the VLE, lecture capture, O365 suite, Adobe design tools, digital assessment and more. The postholder will make a leading contribution to the design and delivery of strategic learning and teaching projects. As part of the team, the postholder will provide a customer focussed second-line support team, underpinned by ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards. Additional Requirements Hours will be as required to undertake the role. Support is provided to on-campus and off-campus learners and staff, including those studying internationally and/or online. This will occasionally require the post holder to work outside the ordinary office hours. Description of Duties Design Liaise with academic staff to establish and confirm their requirements for modules and identify appropriate solutions Oversee and co-ordinate the planning, design and development of high quality module material Design, assess and improve the student learning experience of modules, through your understanding of what activities work in the digital space Apply tested learning design theories, practices and methods to the design of module material Delivery Develop engaging learning activities and module content including VLE templates and multimedia learning content (HTML, video, audio, graphics, etc.) Design and implement processes to streamline online activity to enable the university to develop a consistent and scalable approach to digital and online learning Support Liaise with academic colleagues and faculties to identify their current and future learning and teaching plans, using this information to plan and deliver appropriate digital learning services Provide a customer focussed second-line support service, delivered across a range of digital channels and on a face-to-face basis, consistent with ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards adopted across Information Services Support the digital and pedagogical skills development of academic colleagues and related support staff through the delivery of training on the development and delivery of online and blended modules, and in the use of supporting systems and tools; Provide technical expertise to academic staff, including knowledge of a variety of online platforms and tools that are used by the university, including the development of support documentation, user guidance and knowledgebase articles Other activities Managing small projects and/or maintaining project documentation in accordance with adopted project management methodologies Participating in appropriate university groups and commitees concerned with learning, teaching and digital learning, or other related themes Keeping abreast of developments in learning and teaching and associated digital technologies in HE and beyond to improve and enhance services and support. Essential Criteria Qualifications Degree in a relevant discipline One or more of: - A teaching qualification (for example, a Certificate or Diploma in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education) -Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy - Certified Membership of the Association of Learning Technologies (CMALT) Knowledge & Experience Significant experience of designing and developing digital, online and blended learning content Expertise relating to pedagogical concepts and learning design Experience of facilitating learning design workshops The ability to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously and to drive these through to completion, including requirements gathering and task management Experience of providing support services using a range of channels Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the use of technology in education Excellent understanding of a wide range of technologies to support learning and teaching Demonstrable experience of producing support materials and documentation in a range of formats Skills & Attributes A customer-oriented approach to service design, delivery and evaluation Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders Excellent design (including visual design) skills and the ability to design engaging digital learning content Highly organised approach to managing workload, with the ability to work calmly and systematically in a busy environment; prioritising work as required in order to meet agreed deadlines Ability to investigate, gather, collate and analyse information Excellent IT skills, including advanced familiarity with common applications and relevant systems and online services Demonstrable ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Meticulous attention to detail, working to a high level of accuracy Desirable Criteria Qualifications Masters degree in Education/Technology-Enhanced Learning Knowledge & Experience Experience of working within ITIL, Prince2 (or similar) and Customer Service Excellence standards A good awareness of the issues facing HE and how learning and teaching is affected by them Additional Information Full time Open ended The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 23 February 2026.
