Job summary

The CAMHS directorate in North Yorkshire, York, and Selby locality of TEWV is comprised of the two York Community CAMHS teams based at Orca House, the Selby team based at Worsley Court, the Harrogate Team based at Dragon Parade, the Scarborough Team based at Lake House and the Northallerton Team based at North Moor post will provide input into Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale part of theNY &Y service.

It has a Single Point of Access service staffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide a telephone consultation service to families and referrers. The SPA responds to all referrals and help young people and their families with the process of navigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs. The service works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people and their families in achieving good mental health and well-being. Staff job plans are designed to deliver services described in the TEWV Clinical Pathways, in order to provide high quality evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job

The Speciality Doctor will provide input to Scarborough CAMHS with regular consultant supervision from Dr Fadl consultant Psychiatrist and additional supervision for ADHD cases from Dr Kennedy. The postholder will contribute to the teams performance objectives and is expected to achieve an average of 18 direct patient contacts per week, representing a mix of new and review appointments, including some emergency assessments under supervision. The postholder is expected to hold a mixed caseload of both ADHD and generic CAMHS cases. The postholder will be responsible, alongside consultant colleagues, for delivery of mental health services up to a young persons 18th birthday for the population of Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. The post holder will be supported to work towards gaining section 12 approval.

The post holder joining the team will be expected to work in accordance with GMC guidance for working in multiagency and multidisciplinary teams and will be expected to work flexibly.

This is a 1 year fixed term SAS post with the option of this being reviewed and extended as needed for a further year. The post will follow a 8PA (Direct Clinical Care): 2 PA (Supporting Professional Activities) job plan. This will allow the post holder to develop a protected day each week to pursue CESR and CPD activities.

Teaching & Training

Essential

1. Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.

Desirable

2. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.

CPD & Appraisal

3. Participated in continuous professional development.

Qualifications

5. MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
6. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
7. At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad
8. Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment.

9. MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
