Neway International are seeking an Administration/Clerical to join our client, Vale of Glamorgan Council. Location: Barry Docks, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF63 4RT Hours: 21 per week (flexible between 9am–5pm) Start date: 14 April 2026 Duration: 8 weeks Employment type: Temporary Work pattern: 2 days remote, 2 days office-based About the Client Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Social Services Directorate is committed to delivering accessible, high‑quality information to support families, individuals, and professionals. The Social Care Information Team plays a key role in ensuring that information is easy to find, easy to understand, and reflective of the services available across the Vale. The team supports the Family Information Service (FIS), the first point of contact for childcare, activities, and services for children and young people, now accessed through the Vale Family Compass. The service operates a helpline, website, resource directory, social media channels, and outreach activities, and is known for its positive, supportive team culture. The Role The Social Care Information Assistant will support the delivery of accurate, accessible information for families and professionals. Working across the Family Information Service and the wider Social Care Information Team, the postholder will help maintain service directories, respond to enquiries, and contribute to the improvement of social care information across the Directorate. This is a part‑time role (21 hours per week), with flexibility on working days between 9am–5pm. The postholder will work two days in the Dock Office in Barry and two days remotely. Key Responsibilities Assist in the delivery and maintenance of the Family Information Service (FIS). Respond to enquiries from parents, carers, and professionals, providing information on childcare, services, and family support. Maintain and update service information on Dewis Cymru, including contacting organisations and sourcing new local services. Support The Index for Children and Young People with Disabilities or Additional Needs by contacting families, gathering feedback, and processing registrations. Use digital tools to compile newsletters, update website content, and refresh information guides. Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Social Care Information Team. Candidate Requirements Experience working in an office or administrative environment, including maintaining accurate records and updating data. Experience using large or complex databases and digital information systems. Strong digital skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office and online platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with families, professionals, and partner organisations. 4 GCSEs at grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent). Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications. A positive, proactive attitude and a collaborative approach to team working.
