Job Summary

Calling all High Intensity CBT and EMDR Therapists. Our highly regarded Steps to Wellbeing services are recruiting for a new role in the recently piloted Flourish service – part of the new Complex Trauma Pathway. We are looking for people to bring energy, enthusiasm, and a high level of skills and experience. The role is available in North Dorset (Blandford, Sherborne, and Shaftesbury) and Weymouth and Portland. Full‑time or part‑time positions are available across these areas.


Location and Working Pattern

Locations: North Dorset – Blandford, Sherborne, and Shaftesbury, and Weymouth and Portland.

Working pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time, Job share.


Main Responsibilities

* Provide one‑to‑one high intensity CBT or EMDR to adults with symptoms of PTSD and C‑PTSD, alongside stabilisation.
* Collaborate with Peer Specialists to deliver the Flourish care model.
* Maintain good administrative, time‑management and communication skills.
* Work within the NHS or similar environment, meeting clinical service targets.


Educational Requirements / Qualifications

* A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical psychology.
* Qualification from a High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma).
* A recorded/registered qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a psychological therapy plus further postgraduate qualification training in CBT.
* Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.
* Accreditation with an appropriate professional body (HPC, BABCP).


Desirable Qualifications

* Accredited EMDR Therapist or working towards accreditation.
* Additional training in Schema therapy, Attachment theory or Solution Focused Therapy.


Essential Skills & Knowledge

* Experience of working in primary care services.
* Experience of agreeing and meeting clinical outcome targets.
* Completed clinical audits within a service.
* Knowledge of Dialoge Plus, ReQual, PCL‑5 measure.
* Ability to facilitate and develop groups.
* Demonstrated experience of working with clients who present with complex mental health issues.
* Ability to meet agreed service targets.
* High standards in written communication and routine outcome monitoring.
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other mental health professionals.
* Risk assessment experience within scope of practice.
* Understanding of PTSD/C‑PTSD and its impact on family systems.
* Knowledge of medication used in PTSD/C‑PTSD and other common mental health problems.
* Evidence‑based use of psychological therapies relevant to the post.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation.


Desirable Skills & Knowledge

* Experience of working with diverse communities and multicultural settings.
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other mental health professionals.
* Knowledge of medication used in PTSD and C‑PTSD and other common mental health problems.

Other Information

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The Trust will cover the cost of the DBS check and applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.

Contract and Salary

Band 7: £47,810 to £54,710 a year pro rata for part‑time. Permanent contract.
