The purpose ofthe role is to facilitate high standards of clinical practice in GeneralPractice through the establishment and delivery of structured support tostudent nursing associates, nursing apprentices and other relevantlearners. A key objective is to promoteGeneral Practice as an attractive setting for both nurses and nursing associates,to develop new pathways to enable entry into the specialism and embed careerdevelopment pathways from nursing associate to registered nurse. The postholder will facilitate the development of networks to support, student nursingassociates, registered nursing associates and apprentice nurses to develop acommunity of practice to reduce isolation and vulnerability of their roles.


Main duties of the job

You should be aRegistered Nurse with post registration experience in General Practice withexperience as a clinical educator or a good understanding of pre-registrationnurse education. The General Practice Educator (Nursing Associates) will workalongside the training hubs within the Integrated Care System (ICS) to supportthe following

Raise awareness and promote the role of thenursing associate (NA) role and the benefits the role can play in PCNs.

Undertake clinical teaching and assessment forthe student nursing associates (SNA) and nursing apprentices to support thesuccessful completion of their programme if required and nursing associates(NA) to support their continuous professional development.

Facilitate external placements for studentnursing associates and student nursing apprentices. To utilise learning duringplacements and to drive improvements to student experience, increase engagementand improve retention.

Work with colleagues to develop resources forprimary care employers and non-registered staff which will be supported by aclear engagement plan. Resources should also guide non- registered staff ontheir career pathway.

Support registered nurses and nursingassociates new to the specialism with their development and smooth transitioninto General Practice.

Skills and Abilities

* Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to advocate for patient, staff and safety or quality issues.
* Excellent Clinical skills.
* Demonstrates organisational skills: including the ability to make decisions and to prioritise own workload.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.


Experience

* Current experience in General Practice nursing.
* Experience of teaching, assessing and supporting learners in practice.
* Experience of initiating or participating in quality improvement of the
* learning environment.
* Experience of initiating or participating in clinical audit.
* Experience of leading, motivating and developing other nurses.
* Experience of supporting and assessing student nursing associates.
* Participation in regular clinical supervision.


Qualifications

* Maths and English GCSEs (Grade C and above) or equivalent.
* NMC Registered General / Adult Nurse.
* Post registration education or qualification relevant to primary care.
* Practice Assessor Qualification.
* Teaching Qualification.
* Leadership Training Qualification.


Knowledge, Understanding and Attributes

* Good understanding of current nursing and AHP workforce issues.
* Committed to multi-professional team working.
* Demonstrates a willingness to develop.
* Clear understanding of Primary Care Services.
* Demonstrates an understanding and insight into current professional issues and developments within the NHS.
* Ability to travel - car driver with valid licence.

* Commitment to attend forms or training as learning needs are identified.
* Knowledge of Apprenticeships.
* Effective decision maker. Knowledge of strategic developments within General Practice.
