Job Description:
* Nationwide travel
* About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Serving as the Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
* Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring proper management and compliance.
* Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance (e.g., HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, Trade Bodies).
* Investigating incidents and accidents thoroughly, liaising with external stakeholders such as emergency services and media as needed.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated management systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental risk management qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
