The Environmental Team is recruiting early career Environmental Engineers and Environmental Specialists. If you enjoy a fast-paced working environment and developing technical approaches to support a wide variety of projects, we would love to hear from you.


About the role

You will work as part of a highly skilled team, with a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry. Our team offers multidisciplinary expertise in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, environmental management and permitting. The Genesis Environment Team comprises engineers, marine biologists, chemists, geologists and GIS specialists.

As the Energy Transition gathers pace, we are working with clients on projects within both traditional oil & gas and newer sectors such as hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and offshore wind. We are growing our team to support these projects.

You will support environmental assessments and studies for projects in the UK and overseas, spanning onshore and offshore. Areas include:

* Carbon management, energy efficiency, de-carbonisation
* New energy technologies including hydrogen and ammonia
* Environmental impact assessment
* Environmental permitting and compliance
* Environmental modelling

The successful candidate will work within the Environmental Delivery Team and will interface with the wider Genesis organisation to provide environmental inputs on projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas.


Responsibilities

* Execute environmental studies and assessments, applying the environmental impact assessment process and best available techniques in line with regulatory and client requirements
* Characterise and quantify emissions and discharges for the energy sector
* Support clients with reporting and compliance for offshore and onshore operations
* Contribute to HAZID/ENVID reviews and multidisciplinary engineering projects
* Set up, run and interpret outputs from models (oil spill, drill cuttings, marine discharges, noise and air) with assistance from the Genesis modelling team
* Assist in preparing technical reports and proposals
* Assist in preparing materials for client presentations
* Identify and interpret relevant regulations and standards
* Interact with clients to ensure delivery of requirements within agreed scope, schedule and budget


About you – Skills and experience

* Have a degree in a relevant science, engineering or environmental subject
* Awareness of environmental legislation and the environmental impact assessment process
* Strong team player with motivation to meet tight deadlines
* Excellent written skills with attention to detail and ability to think innovatively
* Computer literate, including standard MS Office software

Desirable qualifications:

* Experience using GIS to analyse data and prepare graphics for reports
* Knowledge of software development using Python, Fortran, C, MATLAB or similar
* Knowledge of sectors such as oil & gas, onshore/offshore wind, infrastructure projects, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage

It is essential that applicants have the right to work in the UK. Flexibility for ad hoc travel within the UK and abroad (Genesis or client offices / offshore visits).
