The Governors of Archbishop Runcie Church of England VA First School wish to appoint a fixed term class teacher, from 1st September 2025 – 31st August 2026.
We are a welcoming church school with happy and highly-motivated children. We have exceptional expectations of ourselves and the children, providing them an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum that stretches children to be the best that they can be. Parents are highly engaged with the school’s work. This post is suitable for either experienced or early career teachers.
This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a genuinely loving and caring school. We are looking for a teacher who cares deeply and is passionate for children and their learning, who can build very strong relationships with pupils and their families, and who is willing to go the extra mile to make a difference to our local community. As a small school, we work very closely together so being a ‘team player’ is essential and an open and honest approach is vital.
Because of our broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum, strong subject knowledge is also crucial. Any specialist subject knowledge would be advantageous. The successful candidate must be able to articulate and evidence their deep understanding of all subject areas within the first school age-range. Knowledge of recent educational research is also beneficial.
We want to grow aspiring leaders with their own drive, ambition and ideas balanced with modesty, emotional intelligence and empathy.
The successful candidates will:
• have high expectations of children's attitudes, achievements and behaviour
• have excellent and deep subject knowledge across the first school age range
• be caring, empathetic and loving to children, staff, families and our community
• consistently go the extra mile for the good of our children
• be willing to ‘muck in’ – we are a small school!
• have evidence of meaningful classroom impact
• work positively with parents and families
• be willing to participate in all aspects of school life.
Application forms are available on the school website and returnable to Mrs K Massey (Headteacher) via email by 12 noon on Monday 16th June or earlier. CVs will not be accepted. It is the intention that shortlisted candidates will then be invited to visit the school and undertake a lesson observation on Wednesday 25th June with successful candidates being invited to interviews on Thursday 26th June.
Archbishop Runcie CE (VA) First School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this firm commitment. As such, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken alongside other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate. Please note that in all cases written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise. All posts are subject to a safer recruitment process which includes enhanced criminal records and barring checks, scrutiny of employment history, robust referencing and other vetting checks. Online searches will be undertaken as part of due diligence checks.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or age. We look forward to receiving your applications.
