As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will autonomously assess patient care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care, ensuring the consistent delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care within the clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care programmes to maintain high clinical standards.
* Take charge of the ward/department in the absence of the Ward Sister/Deputy, ensuring effective daily operations, staff allocation, and supervision.
* Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients, relatives/carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
* Monitor and uphold standards of care in line with organisational policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
* Lead, supervise and mentor junior staff and students, supporting their learning and professional development.
* Deliver teaching and contribute to staff development plans and ongoing education.
* Manage workload effectively, prioritising patient safety and care quality.
* Ensure accurate, timely and compliant patient documentation in line with NMC standards.
* Support stock control and promote the efficient use of resources.
* Engage in evidence‑based practice, clinical audit and continuous professional development (PREP requirements).
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, promoting a safe clinical environment.
* Practice in accordance with the NMC Code and professional guidelines.
