Job Purpose/Overview
This position enables compliance with the NATS Safety Policy by supporting the provision of Safety Assurance for changes to NATS Operational Services, ensuring accountable roles have confidence that changes can be implemented and operated safely.
Other Duties Include
* Support the generation and preparation of Safety & Assurance plans, arguments and collating evidence for the Change Assurance documentation covering Safety Management and Business Continuity/Service Resilience assurance and risks.
* Contribute from Systems/Software Assurance, Human Factors and Cyber Security to produce changes implemented with required safety assurance.
* Facilitate workshops to identify safety hazards and elicit mitigating, functional and non‑functional requirements forming the safety & assurance requirements for a project change.
* Adopt a pro‑active approach to ensure any issues affecting safety, business continuity, human performance and cyber security of NATS services or interfaces are identified and resolved.
Autonomy
* Works under general direction, usually receiving specific instructions and having work reviewed at frequent milestones.
* Identifies and escalates safety concerns during production of assurance evidence required to support a project delivery.
Job Scope
* Author assurance documentation for existing Operations and new Project Change assurance, including Operational Safety and Technical Assurance documents.
* Apply the relevant Safety Management Procedures (SP400, SP401, SP403, SP406, SP409).
* Comply with the appropriate NMS/BMS processes and support continuous improvement of safety and assurance processes by providing suggestions to BPE/BPO.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Minimum of a Higher National Certificate/Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in a STEM or assurance‑related discipline.
* For NATS Employees completing a NATS early careers programme, this role serves as their first substantive role.
* Strong communication skills to convey difficult technical and/or operational concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
* A passion for Safety or Air Traffic Management and a willingness to learn, develop and take on different tasks under guidance.
