Being an Employment Advisor is great. What most people don’t like though is the heavy targets and large caseloads. Along with the risk of redundancy if a contract is coming up to an end. But that’s just the way in employability? Isn’t it?
So how about being targeted towards the impact you are having on job seekers instead of the hard outcomes? How about a manageable caseload (circa 50). And relaxed eligibility (your clients might only be a day out of work). I almost forgot to mention they are self-funded. This means that they are not dependant on government funding, so no risk of redundancy as the contract ends.
This role is based in Bristol (the Northwest bit). So Shirehampton, Horfield, Filton, Patchway and Bradley Stoke. You will be community based, so job centres, community centres and libraries. You will be passionate about employability and great at promoting the service for new referrals, who could be those who are economically inactive (carers, new arrivals from Hong Kong, parents looking to return to work etc). And the targets are about the impact you are having i.e. helping someone with a CV or helping them secure a volunteer opportunity. Hours are 9 – 4.30 (35 hour week). And although working independently, there is lots of support, with line manager check ins 2 – 3 times a week, and team pizza catch ups.
To apply, you must have worked previously as an Employment Advisor, Job Coach or Careers Advisor. So, you will have experience of managing a caseload, delivering 121’s and making a difference.
Please apply via this advert – everyone gets a response. If you would like to speak to someone first about this role, feel free to call the office and ask for James (number on the Red 5 People website).
