Charity Manager – Making A Difference To Maidstone (MADM)


Overview

The job of the Charity Shop Manager is to be the main point of contact for MADM’s Charity Shop, promote the shop to the wider public, manage donations, supervise staff and volunteers, and ensure financial and administrative processes are followed.


Responsibilities

* Be the main point of contact for MADM’s Charity Shop.
* Report to the Charity Manager and promote the shop to the wider public.
* Coordinate the collection, sorting, and pricing of donations.
* Supervise staff and volunteers and train them as required.
* Maintain an appealing shop environment: clean, tidy, decorated when needed, and regularly redressed windows.
* Coordinate the volunteer rota and ensure MADM Policies and Procedures are adhered to by all staff and volunteers.
* Be responsible for all online sales through the Charity’s website and online selling sites.
* Handle company card and ensure receipts are processed within finance team guidelines.
* Complete all financial processes and banking; keep shop income records and update the Management team.
* Attend regular Management meetings and create reports for Trustees when required.
* Complete relevant administrative duties and undergo training as directed by line management.
* Represent MADM at meetings, conferences, and events with external agencies when necessary.
* Work within Health and Safety guidelines to maximise staff and volunteer safety.
* Carry out other safe and reasonable duties related to the above as directed.


Candidate requirements

* Experience working in a sales-targeted environment.
* Non-judgemental approach to working with everyone accessing the service.
* Ability to self-motivate and use professional judgement in developing working activity.
* Flexible and adaptable to change; able to contribute to effective teamwork.
* Proactive and positive attitude; able to manage own workload to fulfil outcomes.


Work Attire

* Wear appropriate footwear.
* Smart casual clothing that is comfortable.
* Warm clothing in winter as the building can be cold.
* No shorts unless hot weather; otherwise avoid for safety.
