Job Description
At Cambridgeshire Constabulary, we depend on well maintained and efficient transportation to help us deliver our services to a large and diverse community. Responsibilities
* Maintain, service and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic components of police vehicles and plant to agreed standards.
* Carry out safety inspections, diagnostic testing and problem solving.
* Attend vehicle breakdowns and complete documentation work including job sheets, service sheets, time sheets and stores requisitions.
* Work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating good organisational and communication skills.
* Maintain high standards of health & safety within vehicle workshops.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a motor vehicle workshop environment.
* Good standard of education and a motor vehicle related apprenticeship.
* City & Guilds Motor Vehicle (Mechanical/Electrical) Technicians 1 & 2 or equivalent.
* Up-to-date knowledge of health & safety within vehicle workshops.
* Experience in a main dealership or similar type of organisation and with various vehicle model types.
* Full current driving licence.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs.

Vetting Process
As part of the vetting process, the BCH Vetting Unit may need to contact your current line manager for a Supervisor Appraisal. This requirement aligns with the 2025 National Guidelines for Vetting (APP 6.5.18).

* Moving into a role requiring MV clearance (even if you currently hold MV clearance)
* Moving into or working in a role involving close contact with vulnerable individuals
Redeployment and Redundancy

Police Barred and Advisory Lists
Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the police for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
