We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced Sexual Health Senior Staff Nurse to join our dynamic service based at Homerton Clifden Centre. We have a fixed term post for 1 year until the 31st of March 2027.
We are looking for a Sexual Health nurse with significant experience in the specialty. Evidence of organizational and leadership potential as well as a commitment to teaching and facilitating training is essential.
1. The post holder will work as part of the cross site multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive nursing interventions aimed at clients with contraception and sexual health care needs.
2. The post holder will take an active role in the planning and provision of training of staff within the department working closely with the Charge Nurse in the implementation of national and local strategies in sexual and reproductive health services.
3. Will support clinic service developments such as evening, weekend and out-reach service provision as required
4. Will be required to cross site work between our sexual health clinics, The Clifden Centre, Ivy Centre, John Scott and Neaman Practice.
Main duties of the job
5. The post holder will provide information, counselling and health advice to patients with contraception and sexual health needs.
6. The post holder will be competent in the delivery of clinical skills relevant to sexual and reproductive health nursing e.g. sexual and contraceptive history taking, microscopy, phlebotomy and cryotherapy, syndromic management of STI’s, initiate all methods of hormonal contraception including sub-dermal implants.
7. Be competent in using patient Group Directions for safe supply of medication in line with local guidance.
8. Be competent in obtaining a complete sexual and contraceptive health history, perform examination and tests from symptomatic and asymptomatic patients and perform microscopy proficiently.as needed.
9. To work to the department’s syndromic care management model as required in Nurse led services and be proficient in microscopy as required.
10. The post holder will provide leadership, management and support within the nursing team working closely with other related disciplines within and without the department to provide a seamless Sexual Health service.
11. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that patient care is evidence based and of a high standard and will deputize for the Charge Nurse as required.

Essential criteria
12. BSC in Adult Nursing or Diploma
13. STI Foundation course completion
14. FRSH contraception diploma

15. HIV NHIVNA Competencies
16. Non-medical prescribing
Skills/ Abilities
Essential criteria
17. Competently discuss contraceptive methods and deliver emergency contraception under PGD
18. Competently perform sexual health screens and microscopy
