About the Role We are looking for an experienced Training & Competency Lead. This is a unique opportunity to combine your technical expertise with a passion for developing others, while also playing a key role in maintaining and improving operational quality standards. In this role, you’ll establish the training and competency approach, deliver high-quality training and assessment across our workforce, ensuring competence, safety, and compliance at all times. Alongside your training duties, you’ll also leverage your knowledge of the work, expertise and relationships with the workforce to support operational quality assurance activities. What You’ll Be Doing * Delivering engaging technical and safety training to staff across our service lines. * Assessing and coaching employees to demonstrate competence against industry standards. * Developing and updating training materials and assessment tools. * Supporting operational quality by carrying out compliance checks and internal audits. * Working with production teams to develop quality improvement work streams and share best practice. * Ensuring lessons learned are fed back into training programmes and workforce development. What We’re Looking For * Background in rail MRO, rolling stock maintenance, or a related engineering field. * Assessor qualification. * Strong understanding of rail industry safety and compliance standards. * Confident trainer with excellent communication and coaching skills. * Experience of competency management systems. * Internal Auditor qualification or practical auditing experience. * Experience of competency management systems.
