We have a great opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Sittingbourne to support our growing Connected Cities business which focuses on street and highways lighting infrastructure projects across the UK. The role itself will focus on a long-term LED street lighting turn maintenance contract across Kent.
Role overview
To manage the commercial performance of our Kent street lighting turn maintenance contract and work alongside the project/operational teams as part of the integrated project teams to deliver CVR’s, information and advice on a project’s profit and loss and maximise profit while identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk.
Key activities
* Setting up and procuring the supply chain in liaison with Procurement department. To evaluate and decide with procurement, the appropriate form of contract and amount of flow down from head contract and the enabling the execution of supply chain contracts.
* Change Management: with respect to contracts with our clients and contractual arrangements with our suppliers and subcontractors. Management is to be aligned with EQUANS governance processes of change to main contract and supply chain.
* Organise the pricing of change through our contracts with respect to our Clients, our supply chain and subcontractors.
* Undertake the contract reviews and liaison with EQUANS legal teams and agreement of initial contract through EQUANS governance processes, through to the execution of the head contracts.
* Liaison with EQUANS insurance with respect to agreeing initial position with clients, the provision of all insurances and the management and close out of any insurance claims.
* Assist in the management and provision of project securities such as PCG’s and Bonds with the management of these through the BY governance process.
* The management of the BU risk review and monitoring process, compilation of risk matrices and the reporting of these risks to the project team and the Business.
* The compilation of CVR’s for main projects (both full CVR’s and short form) and reporting of summary commercial data on the projects to the Business, as well working with the project team to assist with any other reports that the business requires to report on the project.
* Management of disputes with respect to our Contract with our Client and contractual arrangements with our supply chain and subcontractors.
* Preparation and submission of EQUANS payment applications to our clients, as well as agreeing any payment disputes and managing the WIP and debt levels on the project.
* Assessment of subcontractor payments as well as issuing of any contract notifications and certificates for payment, and agreement of final accounts.
* Approval of supply chain payments through three-point matching and dispute and query resolution.
* Development and management of short- and long-term forecasts, as well as production of revised business forecasts and end of site reports.
* Production of earned value reports as part of business forecasts and end of site reporting.
* Carry out commercial activities to meet the Project objectives, including providing advice, guidance and support on such matters to the Project team.
* An understanding of contractual obligations, under all standard forms of contract – such as NEC, TSC and the JCT suite of contracts.
* Assist in measuring & describing highways engineering works when agreeing applications for payment with our client and our supply chain and subcontractors.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience in Quantity Surveyor positions in a similar sector and the management and production of project CVR’s.
* HNC/D or Degree in relevant discipline.
* Have knowledge and understanding of construction techniques, problems and solutions and work closely with technical staff.
* Excellent written, numerical, oral communication and negotiating skills.
* Be able to develop knowledge of the contractual and commercial processes relating to the project especially NEC3 D&C and TSC (and NEC4) and JCT suite of contracts.
* Be able to identify risks in projects, and implement and manage risk management procedures and contingencies.
* Able to work as part of team with colleagues on the Contract and cross-functionally with colleagues in other areas of the business.
* A keen eye for detail, with a methodical and process-driven approach to work.
