The Opportunity We have an excellent opportunity to join our Portsmouth division as an Able Seaman (AB) on board our Dredger operating around the south coast of the UK on a rotational 3 weeks on 3 weeks off shift pattern.
Responsibilities-
To carry out maintenance and ship husbandry routines laid out in the maintenance schedules
Responsible for compliance with company standing orders as delegated by the Master
To provide Emergency Response duties as detailed in the ships Muster List
To work in a safe and efficient manner, as directed by Master, Chief Mate and Chief Engineer.
To provide navigational watch keeping routines when required by the Master and Chief Mate
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mooring operations
Who you are (requirements)
STCW95 certification in line with coding/class conventions (e.g. medical, survival, first aid, fire fighting etc.).
A valid ENG1 (medical fitness certificate) or accepted equivalence
A working knowledge of MARPOL and general safety on board the vessel.
Company HSE Procedures/processes
STCW and other relevant certification to be revalidated in accordance with the specific certificate requirements
The ability to work professionally in the shipboard environment, maintaining high standards of husbandry and health and safety.
Self-motivated and strives towards continuous improvement.
