**Who are Midland Mencap?**
Midland Mencap is a charity that works and campaigns for accessible and inclusive services, aiming to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities and additional needs.
**Purpose of the role:**
To connect individuals wanting to cycle more with volunteer Bike Buddies who can support them. This includes people returning to cycling, those with disabilities or health issues, or anyone seeking to build confidence and enjoy cycling safely.
**Responsibilities include:**
Supporting cyclists to explore local routes, practice safe riding skills, and develop confidence in various cycling environments. You may assist during organized events or one-on-one sessions, meeting approximately once a week for about 2 hours.
**What do you need?**
- A roadworthy bike and riding gear
- Experience in regular cycling and some cycle maintenance skills
- Completion of a cycling competence session
- Friendly, calm, patient, and a good listener
- Acceptance of diverse individuals and willingness to learn
- Good time management and reliability
- An enhanced DBS check is required
